Developer Carenado has recently released ATR 72 for Prepar3D v4 and we got the chance to review this aircraft. We would like to say thank you for making this possible.
ATR 72 is a turboprop airliner mainly used for regional air transport. For example Czech Airlines operates 6 of them or Danish Air Transport operates 9 of them. ATR 72 has a very strong rival the Bombardier Dash 8 Q400.
From the outside the plane looks absolutely stunning. You can enjoy PBR reflections and highly detailed model. The landing gear is very well modeled. You can spot the anti-ice second layer protection on the fuselage as well which is very cool. The Carenado ATR 72 comes with 8 liveries
Carenado is famous for its highly detailed and modeled cabins and this is one of the best ones out there. The cockpit is very well modeled as well. The FPS are very good in both cockpit and cabin.
If you are looking for a study level ATR 72 you will have to wait. Carenado ATR 72 is more of a let’s fly and have fun airplane, but most systems and flight dynamics are working as they should and the autopilot is working like in real life too which is a big plus. You will enjoy your time flying this plane. The only minus in my opinion is that the plane doesn’t come with a tutorial. You have something like a small guide for autopilot and FMS but I didn’t find any kind of a full tutorial.
You can buy this plane from the official Carenado website.
