Nimbus Simulation Studios has recently released their updated version of the Bell UH-1 helicopter for X-Plane 12. The Bell UH-1 is one of the world’s most iconic helicopters, famous for its widespread use during the Vietnam War.
The Bell UH-1 helicopter, nicknamed “Huey,” is a military aircraft designed by Bell Helicopter. First being deployed during the Vietnam War, the UH-1 has been an important asset for the United States Army, as well as other nation’s armed air services. It was the first member of the Huey family which has over 16,000 units built, 7,000 of which served in Vietnam.
The helicopters were used mostly for troop and cargo transport, medical missions and aerial attacks. Although it has also been used for civilian services such as firefighting and search-and-rescue.
Nimbus Simulation Studios announced the update to be free for all customers who bought their product for X-Plane 11. Although only the military version has been released so far, the developer said “civilian version will follow shortly” on X-Plane’s forums.
The helicopter is made to a high standard and promises a high-quality 3D model along with 4K textures. Additionally, if you are interested in practising some military operations, the helicopter has usable side-mounted guns. This is perfectly paired with the integrated copilot module, which allows you to not worry about flying.
The developer also paid attention to being able to use this aircraft how you wish. The UH-1 was developed with over 20 models, which can be simulated in X-Plane. With the UH-1 by Nimbus Simulation Studios, you can choose if you want guns or no guns, doors opened or closed, and the list goes on.
Furthermore, if pilots are interested in an extra challenge, they can choose if they want the helicopter to require maintenance, which is based on time flown, and usage.
Nimbus UH-1 is available through the X-Plane store and is compatible with both X-Plane 11 and 12 for $37.95. If you have already bought this addon for X-Plane 11, you can as promised, download a free update for X-Plane 12.
