Chudoba Design has announced the A330-200 Family for X-Plane 12, his next major project, in a post to his community. The developer, Filip Chudoba, says the aircraft has passed its early stages of development and is now in a phase of detail work, testing and polishing of individual systems.
Chudoba Design is best known for airport sceneries, including a small Krabi airfield, a series of Egyptian airports and a large Prague release. Chudoba says he has always built things for himself first and then shared them. He credits his AnyAirline project, which he says now has over 1,000 pilots, with giving him the financial footing to take on an aircraft of this size.
The A330-200 is the shorter-fuselage member of Airbus’s widebody twin-jet family. It is used on long-haul routes by passenger airlines, as a freighter, and in military tanker and transport roles. The type is offered with engines from several manufacturers.

Chudoba addresses the obvious question of why he is building another A330 for X-Plane, given the existing A330-300 from Laminar Research and the ToLiss A330-900. He says he does not want to modify an existing aircraft. He wants to build a “drag and drop” aircraft with its own systems and models and no compromises. He chose the type because it suits both short- and long-haul flying, can be set up as a passenger, cargo or military aircraft, and has enough public documentation. The family is also said to include retro and modern variants as well as cargo versions.
In the comments, the developer said every engine type will get “100% of the treatment”, and not only in the 3D model. He also said a future A380 for X-Plane is something he can imagine after this project, though he stressed that finishing the A330 comes first.
No release date or price has been announced, and Chudoba says he does not think the project is close to release. He plans to share progress as development continues. There is no product page yet. We will follow the project here on FSNews as more is shown.
