FSLTL Impacted by FlightRadar24 API Shutdown

FSLTL loses real-time traffic after FlightRadar24 ends its free API, moving to static traffic only.

FSLTL has announced that its traffic injector will be significantly impacted following the upcoming shutdown of FlightRadar24’s unpaid API. According to the team, the service currently used by the injector will no longer be available after April 30, 2026.

The decision comes from FlightRadar24, which will discontinue access to its free API tier. This API has been a key component in enabling real-time traffic injection within FSLTL, allowing users to experience live aircraft movements based on real-world data.

As a result, the FSLTL team confirmed that a new version of the injector will be released on or before April 30 that removes all reliance on the FlightRadar24 API. Once this change is implemented, the injector will operate using static traffic only, meaning no live real-world aircraft data will be available.

The developers explained that they had explored the possibility of introducing a low-cost solution for users to access FlightRadar24 data directly, but current pricing makes this unfeasible. Estimates suggest that using the official API under its current model would be too expensive for the average user, especially for longer simulation sessions.

Looking ahead, the team is actively searching for alternative data providers that could potentially replace FlightRadar24. However, they noted that finding a free solution offering the same level of data is unlikely. A paid option may be considered if a suitable partner is found, although no concrete plans have been confirmed at this stage.

Despite these changes, FSLTL itself will remain free. The team also clarified that this situation does not affect FSLTL Base Models, which will continue to be supported and updated with new aircraft and liveries. While no additional timeline has been provided beyond the April 30 update, the developers stated they will share further information as it becomes available.
