Got Friends has begun rolling out rental pricing across its aircraft portfolio. The new system takes advantage of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024’s Marketplace rental feature, allowing prospective customers to trial or pay a minimal amount to test a product before purchase. Although the feature was highly anticipated for an earlier launch, it instead debuted with Sim Update 3, and developers are now starting to embrace it.
To ensure transparency, ‘Jonx‘, the founder of Got Friends, outlined the rental pricing structure in an announcement on Discord. Starting with a free trial, the one-day rental offers an introduction to the selected aircraft. For $0.99 (USD), users can rent the product for three days, providing more time to experience it at a low cost. This option is aimed at those who want to fly the aircraft for a short period, perhaps over a weekend, without commitment. Finally, for 50% of the full purchase price, users can rent the aircraft for a full week.

For seven days after a rental period ends, Microsoft applies the rental cost toward the final purchase price, ensuring no money is wasted should users choose to buy. Jonx also clarified that while the three-day rental may appear cheaper to repeat, only the final rental counts toward the purchase. Therefore, the week-long rental provides the best value for those planning to commit.
In summary, Jonx explained:
“The 1-day rental is for trying something new. The 3-day rental is about keeping it accessible, no matter your financial situation. And the 7-day rental is for when you’re almost ready to commit and want it to count.”
The rental feature is available exclusively in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Got Friends expects its full product lineup to become rentable via the Marketplace in the coming week. If you’re interested in learning more about Got Friends, you can explore our previous coverage here.
