Hype Performance Group to Refund All 747 SuperTanker Customers After Major Legal Issue

The brand-new aircraft for MSFS had its sales abruptly interrupted just a few days after release. The sudden cease of the 747 SuperTanker project comes after a major trademark issue.

A few weeks after abruptly suspending the 747 SuperTanker sales for MSFS, Hype Performance Group confirmed the end of development and support for the product. The developer went further and confirmed that the use of aircraft on MSFS is no longer authorized since the software itself violates trademark laws.

Through their Twitter page, HPG also confirmed they were “proactively processing refunds for all owners of the SuperTanker.” The developer further stated the process has been completed as of July 29th. Together with this announcement, Hype Performance Group explained that a major trademark issue with Global Supertanker Aviation (the actual owner of the SuperTanker brand) was the reason for the project’s halt.

According to Hype Performance Group, the 747 SuperTanker “was developed without the knowledge or permission of GSA and the HPG 747 SuperTanker product has no affiliation with GSA.” The developer further stated that this matter was solved “amicably” with GSA.

Lastly, HPG made it clear that their team remains open to potential collaboration with GSA, but this time with proper “legal and authorized licensing.” To stay tuned for the latest MSFS news, releases, and announcements, check out our coverage.
