iniBuilds took to their Discord server to announce the release of their rendition of Cape Town International Airport (FACT) for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. The scenery was teased earlier this week alongside their AT98 Wolf’s Fang Runway scenery, and a trailer was shared just yesterday ahead of today’s release.
A Couple of Facts About FACT
Cape Town International Airport, located approximately 20 kilometers from the city of Cape Town’s main economic hub (CBD), is the primary airport serving the city and the second busiest airport in South Africa, while retaining fourth spot across Africa. It was inaugurated in 1954 to replace the previous airport, Wingfield Aerodrome. It offers scheduled services to Johannesburg and Durban, with smaller centers across the country also served. The air route between Cape Town and Johannesburg, particularly, was the world’s ninth-busiest air route in 2011 with an estimated 4.5 million passengers. A multitude of airlines, such as Air France, British Airways, Condor, Delta, Emirates, Qatar Airways, United, and Virgin Atlantic, offer international services to destinations across the Middle East, Asia, Europe, South America, Australia, and the US.

The team has also custom-created a 12-meter Digital Elevation Model of the surrounding landscapes and terrain to accurately capture the iconic slopes of Table Mountain, the rugged coastline, and the Cape Peninsula for enhanced realism when approaching or departing the airport. iniBuilds’ Cape Town has been built using the latest MSFS2024 SDK, features LOD optimization for better performance, and also includes an official GSX Pro profile.
