Asobo has just released the latest Local Legend for Microsoft Flight Simulator, the Heinkel He 70 Blitz. This pre-WWII German airliner, developed by iniBuilds, is now available on the MSFS Marketplace.
The Heinkel He 70 was an early airliner manufactured by German company Heinkel in the 1930s. Lufthansa (then Deutsche Luft Hansa) wanted an aircraft that could carry passengers and mail faster than anything else available at the time, so it approached Heinkel with the request to build such an airplane. The result was the He 70, nicknamed “Blitz” due to its speed.

It was powered by a BMW VI 7.3Z V12 engine, producing 730hp. The powerful engine and overall design allowed the He 70 to achieve a cruising speed of 159 knots. It would later be used by the Luftwaffe in WWII as a Schnellbomber, carrying six 50 Kg bombs and a tailgunner equipped with an MG 15 machinegun. Other operators included Swissair and the Hungarian and Spanish Air Forces.

This legendary aircraft, of which there are no surviving airframes today, has been recreated in Microsoft Flight Simulator by iniBuilds. According to Microsoft, recreating such a rare aircraft required extensive research, “including contacting the U.S. National Archives to digitize original plans of the aircraft.” As such, this may now be the most detailed virtual recreation of the Heinkel He 70 available today.
The iniBuilds/Microsoft Heinkel He 70 Blitz is available now for both Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. It comes with several liveries, including one officially licensed by Lufthansa. It can be purchased on the in-sim marketplace for $14.99 USD.
