Skyward Simulations Shares Development Update on Citation Sovereign for MSFS

Skyward Simulations has shared a long-awaited update on the development of their upcoming Cessna Citation Sovereign for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.

Skyward Simulations has shared a long-awaited update on the development of their upcoming Cessna Citation Sovereign for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. While a release date has yet to be announced, the team’s latest update did prove some impressive progress on the add-on, from systems to overall planning of the project.

In Skyward’s post on their Discord, the team shared that the aircraft has gone through a few development stages, with each iteration refining both system depth and actual usability. The update features the fact that the aircraft has a massive feature list – so detailed that it wouldn’t fit in a Discord message – as well as a more summarized list, including a fully simulated anti-ice system, FADEC, Datalink functionality and plenty more.

Beyond the impressive headline features, there is also a wide range of individual systems to study. The Citation Sovereign includes a fully modeled electrical system with detailed bus logic, interactive circuit breakers, and realistic ground power implementation. Fuel, hydraulic and bleed air systems are also simulated, including things like cross-feeding and links to environmental systems, like the aforementioned anti-ice system.

The aircraft is built around a custom-made G5000 avionics suite, complemented with an integrated Electronic Flight Bag, which handles things like ground services, displays, flight planning and checklists. Skyward did note that there is planning for abnormal and emergency checklists to be included in the EFB in the future as well.

As noted in the post, the add-on is not quite ready for release. However, Skyward states that development “has come a long way,” and that the long-awaited release date is “definitely approaching.”

Make sure to stay tuned to FSNews for more updates on this project.
