Synaptic Simulations, the developer behind the upcoming A220 add-on aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024, released its end-of-year development update on this project. It highlights some key points and milestones achieved during development in 2025. They offer insights into some of the finalized systems of this aircraft and what is next in development during 2026. This update was shared by one of the developers on their official Discord server.
A220 Development Progress
During 2025, the A220 by Synaptic Simulations was showcased during a big development livestream and later that month at a booth in FSExpo 2025. It had various development updates released throughout the year, revealing even more elements of this add-on. In this final development update of 2025, Synaptic Simulations listed some of the achievements made by the development team this year.
Some of the key milestones achieved by the team last year included the completion of critical aircraft systems, such as engine control, fly-by-wire systems, and autopilot. The flight management system for the A220 is now more complex and can interact better with other systems and aircraft functions. Some engine and flight model improvements were performed to achieve a more realistic feeling.

With the start of the new year, Synaptic Simulations will continue the development as they navigate towards the “final approach” to the release of this add-on. The focus of the development team will shift towards the LNAV and VNAV navigation systems, with some adjustments needed for the flight model and other systems.

To conclude this brief development update, the developer would like to thank everyone for their support in 2025 towards this project as they continue working towards the release of this add-on. During the coming months, new information about the A220 will be released by Synaptic Simulations. Stay tuned for future coverage of this project here at FSNews.
