The Workshop #1 – ECAM, FWC, ATSU, MCDU

Welcome to the first installment of The Workshop – a new series dedicated to the latest news and updates regarding FlyByWire’s work on the A32NX and upcoming A380. The Workshop is written directly by the FlyByWire team.

This week brings a few new changes to the A32NX. Building off of previous work on the engine sounds, new spool-up and shutdown sounds have been added for interior views, with an exterior overhaul of the engine sounds to follow. Flight phase logic for the ECAM displays has been completely rewritten to model the actual flight phases of the A320 FWC (flight warning computer). New ECAM pages for the ELEC and COND system displays have been incorporated, though they still require work on the actual systems before they are fully operational.

One of our most exciting upcoming features is SimBrief integration in the ATSU AOC system. With this feature, the MCDU will be able to fetch your currently active SimBrief flight plan, using it as an uplink for route, loading, and performance data. Expect more news on this in next week’s update!

These changes (minus the ATSU work currently in progress) can be found in the development version of the mod, which can be downloaded at our official website.

The next episode of The Workshop is scheduled to be published on 27th November 2020.
