TriTriSim has released their freeware effects add-on, now in open beta, to bring life to the rare but critical scenarios that can unfold during flight. Since the arrival of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020, the sim’s realism has impressed many, but immersive in‑sim effects have remained noticeably lacking. While Parallel 42’s ‘Immersion’ packs enhance standard operations, TriTriSim’s TFX focuses on emergencies and edge-case events often overlooked in the default simulation experience.
About TriTriSim’s TFX
This recently released freeware effects package for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/2024 adds a new layer of realism to dramatic situations such as engine fires, emergency water landings, crashes, and gear-up landings. TFX responds to these events with dynamic visual effects including flames, smoke trails, water splashes, crash animations, and sparks. As showcased by several content creators, the animations are environment-aware, and if supported by the aircraft, they integrate with their failure systems.

What began as an individual project has since flourished into a thriving community-backed development. On May 18th, the project officially entered open beta, marking a major step toward broader user testing and expanding support for more aircraft. Project developer TriTriTheCuber continues to update the product with additional effects and broader aircraft compatibility, reflecting their commitment to TFX. According to the TFX GitHub, it currently enhances a wide range of both native and third-party aircraft, including, but not limited to, PMDG’s 777 lineup, Fenix’s A320 series, and the iniBuilds A350.
