FSimStudios Pre-release Information for Vancouver Airport

FSimStudios have taken to Facebook to give more information on their up and coming release of Vancouver International Airport (CYVR). They have also released screenshots showing their progress so far. It needs to be pointed out that this release will be for both P3D and Microsoft Flight Simulator though the latter will be released shortly after P3D.

The P3D version will feature imagery covering a 178km squared area, which will add further detail to Downtown Vancouver and surrounding areas. Custom made buildings will be modelled to fit in with the scenery. The terminals include both interior and exterior modelling.

For both simulators, the scenery is an up to date rendition of Vancouver International Airport, including the Pier D expansion which, in the real world, is nearing completion. The developers have used the latest PBR materials, native to both P3D and MSFS, to provide textures FSimStudios claim are ‘outstanding’. This is especially so using 4K resolution. The scenery will include local landmarks such as bridges spanning the River Fraser and a local shopping outlet.

Vancouver International Airport is located 12km from Downtown Vancouver, in Richmond, British Columbia. The airport is actually situated on a stretch of land known as Sea Island. Interestingly, it also has a terminal for floatplanes.

FSimStudios have announced that Vancouver International Airport for P3D will be released on October 31st, with the MSFS version being released two weeks later. The developers are planning on providing both versions for the one price of $25 USD. However, the Microsoft Flight Simulator version can be purchased separately for $11 USD. Both will be available from FSimStudios.
