On their YouTube channel, Aerosoft shared a brand new, 10-minute-long showcase video of their much-anticipated Airbus A330 rendition for Microsoft Flight Simulator. It is the first video in the upcoming “Discover the A330” series from the team that aims to showcase all the details and features the aircraft will have.
Raphael, community and content manager at Aerosoft, explains that the team has decided to showcase the interior and exterior modelling of the A330 for MSFS in the first video of the series. Whilst it primarily focuses on showcasing just the A330 CEO, the A330 for MSFS from Aerosoft will also feature the A330neo variant of the aircraft, which is briefly showcased at the end of the video.
The video wasn’t very well accepted by the community. Feedback was received that the landing gear didn’t look good, and people expressed disappointment in the endless teasing and lack of transparency about the aircraft’s status.
Exterior
Aeosoft first showcases the A330’s exterior, starting with the landing gear and progressing through the cargo doors, engines, wings with their components and their respective animations, and the aircraft’s empennage with the rudder, elevator, and trim.
Whilst showcasing the overall exterior model, Raphael comments on the smaller details, like decals throughout the exterior model, animated cargo doors, animated flaps and slats and static electricity dischargers on the wing.
Further down the video, we can see the reverse thrust behaviour on the Rolls-Royce engine variant, and even animated doors to the aircraft interior.
Interior
In the interior section of the video, Raphael from Aerosoft begins with the flight deck, a place where we’ll likely spend most of our time and, if not time, where most of our attention will be. According to Raphael, all the buttons and switches in the cockpit are working and “fully automated“.
The video jumps straight to a small detail in the form of a hanging employee card on the back wall of the flight deck. Right after that, we finally get a glimpse of the place where we’ll spend our time as pilots. We first got a view of the pedestal panel with three MCDU units. Further down in the video, we get a glimpse over the FCU panel with various autopilot and PFD controls, an oxygen mask compartment, animated cockpit windows as well as an EFB.
Whilst the EFB wasn’t the focus of the video, we can get a good idea of what will be featured in it if we zoom in a little bit. First of all, there seems to be a widget to control ground vehicles around the aircraft. Apart from that, there is a clearly visible map of the airport. Whether that will require a Navigraph subscription is unknown at this point. And at last, from what we can see, is a list of ATC stations and their respective frequencies. It is unknown what the options are when it comes to connecting this with online networks like VATSIM and IVAO.
A330neo
At the very end of the video, we can briefly see the A330neo, which will also be featured in the add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Unlike the previously showcased A330, the A330neo has new Rolls-Royce engines and a new winglet design. Of course, the aircraft varies in other ways as well, but only these two were previewed in the video.
Whilst not much was shared about it, you can enjoy its visuals below.
