Aerosoft has taken to X and Discord to share their 2025 roadmap for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. This roadmap shares future updates for some of their current MSFS 2020 and 2024 sceneries and two new airports in development by Aerosoft.
Aerosoft Düsseldorf Airport Updates
Aerosoft Düsseldorf Airport was originally planned for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. However, after hearing feedback from the community, the team have decided to create a version for MSFS 2020. While MSFS 2024 brings new possibilities with its technology and performance, the community still wanted to see a 2020 version come to life, as some people have yet to switch to MSFS 2024.

The current Düsseldorf scenery is designed for MSFS 2024, but Aerosoft have found a way to make the scenery backwards compatible. This solution also does not comprise the level of detail that is within the scope of what is possible with MSFS 2020. All customers of the MSFS 2024 airport will receive the MSFS 2020 version for free. Both will continue to be maintained with adaptations for each version.
Aerosoft Frankfurt Airport Optimisations
Aerosoft’s Frankfurt Airport scenery is one of the largest releases by the developers. It is also massive in scale and has lots of intricate details. As a result, performance can be pushed to the limit for many when flying in and out of this hub. To improve this, a major optimisation update is being worked on to improve performance.

This will include the optimisation of all 3D models and textures, a change to the LOD (Level Of Detail) levels, a better balance between the level of detail and FPS and improved CPU utilisation. The update will be free for all current Frankfurt owners for both simulators. After this update, Aerosoft plans to implement Terminal 3 and update the ground layout.
New Stuttgart Airport Scenery
Looking ahead, Aerosoft has announced Stuttgart Airport as their next scenery for MSFS 2024. As Germany’s 7th busiest airport serving key connections across Europe, Stuttgart will be a great addition to many as another major hub. It serves business and leisure flights to many southern destinations.
Development for Stuttgart Airport has already begun using MSFS 2024. You can expect to see a highly detailed recreation of Stuttgart using MSFS 2024 technology, a focus on realism and atmosphere and the possibility of porting to MSFS 2020 in the future, depending on demand.

Charles de Gaulle Airport for MSFS 2024 Announced
Next up for Aerosoft will be Charles de Gaulle in Paris, coming to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. It is one of the largest airports in Europe and has been on the wish list of many simmers. It is another much-wanted hub to have inside the simulator, and development has already begun.
Aerosoft says this project has a lot of passion behind it, so you can expect to see a full high-fidelity recreation of Charles de Gaulle Airport for MSFS 2024. It will be a flagship project with a very large scope and ambition for the team. Aerosoft has also said that they will be looking to optimise the visuals and performance for such a large airport.
The team over at Aerosoft will have a busy year with this scenery roadmap and is asking the community for any useful materials or contacts for Düsseldorf Airport and Paris CDG (Charles de Gaulle) Airport. For previous Aerosoft releases, read here on FSNews.
