The team behind the AFL (Airfoillabs Company) 737 MAX has shared a new development update on their forum, offering a closer look at theirprogress. While the aircraft add-on is still in development, key improvements are moving it steadily toward a polished and realistic release for X-Plane 12.
Cockpit Visuals Approach Completion
According to their post, the cockpit textures are about 75% complete. The developers have updated over 200 individual textures to fix visual problems such as projection errors and mismatched materials; these improvements are meant to give the cockpit a more realistic and professional appearance. Small details like rounded screws edges have been adjusted to make the cockpit look more “machined” than computer-modeled.

Work on the aircraft’s digital displays and navigation systems is also progressing: The Primary Flight Display (PFD) and Multi-Function Display (MFD) are now fetching data live from the simulator. New features include sharper visual elements, improved heading and navigation symbols, and a magenta turn arc on the map display to help pilots judge upcoming turns. Stability has also improved, with bugs fixed that previously caused screens to go blank.
What’s Next
In the coming weeks, the developers plan to complete cockpit animations for all switches, guards, and levers, complete with movement and sound. As the cockpit nears final form, the focus will shift to modeling the aircraft’s exterior, including the fuselage and wings. The AirFoilLabs team thanks the community for their ongoing feedback, which they say has directly influenced many design choices. Stay tuned for upcoming development updates as the development continues.
