Asobo Releases Junkers JU-52 for MSFS

Asobo Studios, creators of the Microsoft Flight Simulator, have in recent days released a new aircraft for their platform. This time not being part of a new update to the simulator, the aircraft was released as a separate payware addon with a price set to a reasonable $15.

The aircraft was initially supposed to be released earlier this month, on September 7th, but was unfortunately later on delayed until September 28th.

There is unfortunately not much we know about the addon from the technical aspect as the developers did not include any kind of feature list on the product page.

On the other hand, many of the features can be guessed based on the release trailer published by the team at Xbox on their YouTube channel.

The release trailer suggests that the aircraft features a highly detailed 3D model and high-resolution textures, various animations throughout the aircraft for an immersive experience, or even small details like openable cockpit ceiling windows.

Further, there were three variants of the aircraft previewed in the release trailer. They are: with wheels, with skis, and with floats. All are previewed below as well.

The addon can be purchased exclusively through the in-game Marketplace for the previously mentioned price of $15 or about €13.

Junkers JU-52 is a transport aircraft that first flew back in the 1930s. While it was originally developed to have a single-engine, it ended up as a trimotor. It is not very likely you would see the aircraft fly in the skies, but they are placed in museums on static displays basically all around the world. There are only a few aircraft of this type in the world that are airworthy. One of them is based in South Africa, and others are in the United States and France.
