Microsoft Flight Simulator has received a new World Update and a new Local Legend. Once again, the latest World Update focused on improving countries that have been previously covered. This time, the development team took a look at Austria, Germany and Switzerland. The 19th Local Legend to be ever released is the Focke-Wulf FW 200 Condor. All the information about these releases have been shared via the Microsoft Flight Simulator forums.
World Update 18 – Austria, Germany, Switzerland
The German-speaking countries offer a diverse landscape, ranging from the high peaks of the Alpes to the lowlands in the north, covered in vibrant old and new architecture. Again partnered with Bing Maps, Maxar Technologies, Gaya Simulations and Orbx, the team brings more detailed aerial photography to these countries, as well as improved certain cities, airports and detailed landmarks.
The World Update 18 includes 10 detailed cities: Linz, Salzburg and Vienna in Austria. Then there’s Berlin, Frankfurt, Hanau, Karow and Potsdam in Germany. Lastly, there are cities in Switzerland, that are Bern and Zurich.
Furthermore, Germany has received 42 points of interest, Austria has 38 and there are 36 of them in Switzerland. Gaya Simulations also hand-crafted certain airports, like Munich Airport, Bern and Salzburg.

For those who enjoy more casual activities, there are three new discovery flights, three landing challenges and three bush trips. The update is available for free through the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace.
Local Legend 19 – Focke-Wulf 200 Condor
The FW 200 is a German multifunctional aircraft, originally crafted for transatlantic passenger flights for Lufthansa. However, it was mostly used during WWII as a bomber, transportation and observation aircraft.
The plane has a wingspan of 33 metres, is 24 metres long and is 6 metres tall. Its maximum take-off weight sits at comfortable 22 tonnes and its maximum speed is 360 kilometres per hour at an altitude of 25 000 feet.

The FW200 is a result of a vision of transporting fast over the Great Pond, as back in the day, only airships were capable of doing that, at much slower speeds. At the time, this plane could reach a distance of approximately 3000 kilometres, carrying around 26 passengers.
The Microsoft Flight Simulator version of this aircraft comes with three liveries, classic passenger (black or red) and metallic. The FW 200 Condor is now available through the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace for €14.99.
