Atelic, a new developer founded in 2023, took to their Facebook page to announce their first add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator (2020) in the form of Madeira Airport. The post contained some exciting details and several screenshots for the eventual release.

About Madeira Airport
Officially named Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport, Madeira is located in the Santa Cruz civil parish within the Portuguese Archipelago and the autonomous region of Madeira. Madeira serves mostly as a hub that services flights to European metropolitan areas and as a pivotal hub for cargo flights in and out of the Archipelago. It is also the fourth busiest airport in Portugal. Due to its unique runway design, it received the Outstanding Structure Award in 2004. It was also ranked the 9th most dangerous airport in the world by Most Extreme Airports on the History Channel. To land at the airport, pilots must undergo additional training.
About Atelic’s Add-on
Atelic deems this the most detailed Madeira scenery ever created for any flight sim game. Currently, there are few details on the type of textures being used and exactly how Atelic is recreating Madeira for the virtual world within MSFS. However, this product is still in early development so more details may appear in the coming days as it nears its release window.

What is known at this time is that the airport area is handcrafted, the terrain will be high-definition, and models on the Runway 05 approach are detailed. These models include Hotel Vila Galé, Gelo buildings, etc. Other features include a full interior of the terminal, a lead-in lighting system, an accurate slope for the runway, and custom vehicles. Atelic also announced that the purchase of Madeira will include a free upgrade to the MSFS 2024 version. There is no release date at the moment.
While it is stated that the screenshots are from a product still in development, Atelic’s new add-on shows signs of being an exciting new airport to test the skills of any virtual pilot. For a more comprehensive list of features check out Atelic’s Facebook post. As more news about Madeira becomes available, we will announce it.
