Audio for VATSIM Release Date Announced

After almost a year, it’s finally here. Audio for VATSIM got it’s release date. The new VATSIM Voice codec will be available for everybody at October 14th.

After almost a year, it’s finally here. Audio for VATSIM got it’s release date. The new VATSIM Voice codec will be available for everybody at October 14th.

VATSIM stated this is start of the new generation of flight simulation. Due to reworking of entire network, VATSIM will not be available at 13th of October at 20:00z. Secondly, every vatsim pilots will have to update their clients.

This update will include:

• Better voice quality – Opus-based voice codec with optional disortion, noise and VHF simulation
• Reduced delay – 80% reduction of latency, making busy frequencies more realistic
• Range simulation – Simulation of signal strength depending on distance and altitude.
