Black Square has just released a new blog post on their partnered website, Just Flight, announcing two new additions to their portfolio for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The developer, known for its Steam Gauge Overhaul series, such as the Analog Caravan, is now planning to release a new Professional line-up, starting with the Caravan Professional.
Black Square to Introduce Professional Line-up
The new Professional aircraft will feature an even more detailed exterior model and an upgraded sound package, surpassing the Steam Gauge Overhaul series. It will also include advanced systems, such as custom turbine engine simulation, providing more realistic performance and behavior. Dynamic lighting is planned, with voltage-based light dimming and a detailed gyroscope physics simulation will provide more natural behaving cockpit instruments with precise movements and accuracy.

To further enhance the experience, Black Square will continue to integrate their custom EFB. This tablet will offer sim pilots an intuitive interface allowing them to manage aircraft systems and utilities. Additional upgrades will continue to improve system interactions, leading to a highly immersive flight simulation experience.
Although no release date has been announced, the developer revealed that there will be multiple versions of the aircraft:
- A passenger aircraft seating up to 12 passengers and 2 crew members, available with or without an additional cargo pod
- The Grand Caravan Amphibian and the Super Cargomaster
These will be sold as two separate titles. However, discounts will be offered to users who purchase one title and wish to buy the other. Speaking of discounts, owners of the Analog Caravan will be eligible for a discount on the new Professional version.
Introduction to the Commander 114
Black Square has also teased the community with work-in-progress images of their upcoming general aviation aircraft, the Commander 114. This aircraft will feature vintage electronic systems and replicate the first production run of this model.

Update Statement for MSFS 2024
Addressing questions about compatibility with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, Black Square confirmed that their existing aircraft, such as the Velocity XL and TBM 850, will work with the initial release of the new simulator. However, minor graphical and animation issues may persist due to fundamental changes in the simulator. Additionally, the popular Steam Gauge Overhaul series will receive a major reboot as standalone Professional aircraft in MSFS 2024.
