The developer Blackbird Simulations plans to release a new warbird for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024, bringing the legendary Japanese Mitsubishi A6M5 Zero to the simulated world.
It is a legendary warbird used by Japan in World War II. It was manufactured by Mitsubishi, and it was a long-range fighter aircraft, known for the attacks on Pearl Harbour on December 7, 1941.
Mitsubishi manufactured more than 10 thousand of these aircraft, and they were equipped with conventional landing gear, servo tabs on the ailerons, ensuring good manoeuvrability at higher speeds. Its capabilities weren’t ending there, as the aircraft was lightweight for its time, and its stalling speed was around 60 knots.

Its name “Zero” comes from the Imperial Japan year counting, as it was the last digit of the year 2600 (1940), as its design name was Navy Type 0 Carrier Fighter.
About Blackbird Rendition
The Blackbird Simulations A6M5 Zero is going to offer a realistic version of the aircraft, with all the quirks and perks, capturing the realistic behaviour of the aircraft in the simulator. There is an accurate flight model and engine systems, custom wear and tear, alongside realistic failures and custom start simulation.
All of the detailed systems are covered in a beautiful model with high-resolution textures. The download also includes a number of custom liveries with an authentic representation of the aircraft during its usage.

There are also custom, dynamic and immersive effects around the aircraft, including canopy animations that respond to the aircraft’s motion, accumulated dirt during ground operation on the aircraft’s belly, propeller damage and custom physics, as well as realistic lighting effects. The weapons are also simulated. However, they are only for display purposes. It is worth mentioning that only the variant purchased from the website is equipped with weapons.
You will be able to purchase the Zero through the Blackbird Simulations website or through the Microsoft Flight Simulator Marketplace. The pricing has not yet been revealed. The paint kit for this aircraft, as well as the user guide, are now available to be downloaded.
