Captain Sim, a well-known flight simulation developer for various simulators, has just released its first space-related project for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020/24. The Space Shuttle is set to be the first product of the new ‘SPACE’ series if enough positive feedback is received from the community.
The Space Shuttle
The Space Shuttle features highly detailed visual models, effects, and some of the main systems that are usually used during the entry through the atmosphere, terminal area energy management (TAEM), approach, landing, and rollout. Captain Sim advises that no launch, ascent, or orbital phases are modeled.
The Visuals
The Space Shuttle features a detailed, accurate, retrofitted glass cockpit with high-resolution textures. Additionally, animations such as astronauts, a payload bay, reentry heating VFX, and a deployable drag parachute are also included in this new release. Atlantis, Challenger, Columbia, Discovery, and Endeavour liveries are available as well.
Closing Notes
Captain Sim Advises to refer to the manual and evaluate if the systems modeling fidelity meets the user’s expectations before acquiring the product. The Space Shuttle is retailed for $17.99 at the developer’s store. The release video is available here. If you would like to read more flight simulation news, check out our main page.
