Chudoba Design Announces a New Bratislava Airport for X-Plane 11/12

Filip from Chudoba Design now announced his work on the largest airport in Slovakia - Bratislava M.R. Štefánik Airport, read more here!

Through his Facebook page, Filip from Chudoba Design announced an upcoming airport for X-Plane, this time looking at Slovakia’s largest airport in Bratislava. This marks the first payware scenery of Bratislava M.R. Štefánik Airport to ever be released for Laminar Research’s platform.

Bratislava Airport’s History and Information

The airport in Bratislava (LZIB) is located 9 kilometres from the city centre and is mostly used for passenger flights, scheduled or charter. The airport opened in 1951 when it was mostly used for domestic flights and flights to the Soviet Union.

M.R. Štefánik Airport is now the main hub for AirExplore, the largest Slovak airline carrier. It consists of three terminals, Terminal A, Terminal B and General Aviation Terminal. Two perpendicular runways are used for flight operations at this airport.

Speaking of destinations and connectivity, it is vastly influenced by the not-so-far-away Vienna Schwechat Airport, and most of the traffic is thus found there. However, Bratislava Airport has the trust of low-cost airlines like Ryanair or Smartwings. Since last year, various long-haul routes to Mexico, Dominican Republic and Vietnam have been operated by the Spanish airline World2Fly from this airport.

Chudoba Design’s Announcement

Filip mentions that the scenery is close to release if everything goes as smoothly as now. He also shared a single screenshot of this airport, showing the tower and mainly the landside of the modern-looking Terminal A.

Unfortunately, he didn’t share any more information on this upcoming release, so in the meantime, if you wish to read more about Chudoba Design’s work, check out our article about his Gothenburg for X-Plane.
