The Microsoft Flight Simulator development team has released a new update for the simulator. This update is part of their City Update collection, which aims to improve cities in the simulator with new elevation data, modeling, and texturing. This particular update brings some of Italy’s most important and historic urban areas to life in MSFS. In total, nine cities have been revamped in this update.
City Update 16 features improved areas throughout Italy, from the mountainous terrain of northern Italy to the Mediterranean landscape of Sicily and Sardinia. Starting in northern Italy with four cities updated, first we have the city of Bolzano located in the mountain range of the Dolomites. On the border with Slovenia, we find the city of Trieste, and nearby we also find Udine. Moving into the Mediterranean coast, we find Genoa, the most populous city of Liguria and an important port in northwest Italy.
We now travel further south, where one of Italy’s most recognisable symbols is located. The city of Pisa is also receiving an upgrade, which is famous for its architecture and structures. Moving east, we find the popular seaside city of Rimini. Finally, we travel south to the last city in the Italian peninsula to receive an update, being Reggio di Calabria.
We now arrive at the island of Sicily and Sardinia, where each one received a revamped city. The capital and most populous city of Sardinia is Cagliari, which received an update featuring its ancient architecture, beaches, and ports. Sicily received its port city of Messina, with its major port and a combination of coastal and mountainous scenery.
City Update 16 lets you explore these nine improved cities and discover all they have to offer. The update is now available to download for all MSFS 2020 and 2024 users via the MSFS Marketplace. According to the release post made by the developers, the latest version of the simulator is needed for this update.
