Microsoft/Asobo took to their Instagram page earlier today to announce the release of Local Legend 16: The Short SC.7 Skyvan for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The developers also released the latest “City Update” 7: European Cities II featuring a diverse and exciting set of locations throughout Europe.
Local Legend 16: Short SC.7 Skyvan
About the aircraft
The Short SC.7 Skyvan, also nicknamed the “Flying Shoebox” due to its distinct shape, is a British 19-seat twin-turboprop aircraft. It was manufactured by Short Brothers of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and is mainly used as a short-haul freighter and skydiving aircraft. Construction began in 1960 and the prototype flew on 17 January 1963, powered by two Continental piston engines. It was later re-engined to the intended Turbomeca Astazou II turboprop engines of 520hp. The US Air Force operated Sherpa Skyvans in Europe for spare parts and cargo delivery.

Key Features
According to Microsoft, the latest Local Legend 16 has been expertly recreated in MSFS for simmers to enjoy. Inferring from the screenshots shared by the developer, the external model of the aircraft features high-definition textures and has been modeled to a great level of detail. The rear cargo door also seems to be operable from the cockpit and can be closed and opened at will. MS/Asobo has also included a ton of liveries with the product including various military variants and an airliner version too.
The team has also created a stunning release trailer for the latest Local Legend 16 which can be viewed below.
City Update 7: European Cities II
Along with the latest Local Legend, Microsoft/Asobo has also released the latest update in their “City Update” series, European Cities II. The team has captured renowned cities in exquisite detail using recent high-resolution aerial imagery, digital elevation data, and TIN (triangulated irregular network) surface modeling.
The notable locales featured in the latest city update throughout Europe are: Stockholm, the capital of Sweden, a national, regional, and global center of industry, education, finance, and culture; Monaco, an independent sovereign city-state surrounded on land by France and comprises less than a square mile of coastline nestled between mountains and the sea; and Barcelona, the capital of Spain’s Catalonia, celebrated as one of the world’s most beautiful cities and is located on the Mediterranean Sea just south of France.

Other notable cities include Nice, located in southeastern France in the heart of the Côte d’Azur (Azure Coast) near the Italian border and also known as the French Riviera; Porto, located on the Atlantic coast of northern Portugal, recognized by the United Nations as a World Heritage site; and Madrid, the capital of and most populous city in Spain, and a major global center of industry, finance, culture, and international governance, boasting some of the most spectacular architecture in the world.

The team, just like the local legend, has shared a cinematic release trailer for the latest City Update too which can be viewed below.
