Classic Aircraft Simulations, known for their iconic classic aircraft, announced the upcoming de Havilland Comet 4 for MSFS on their Discord server. With their series of classic aircraft, they make a 20-year jump in history from their previous aircraft, the J-3 Cub.
A Milestone in Aviation History
The de Havilland Comet 4 is one of the most iconic jetliners in aviation history. First delivered in 1958, it was developed to be a safer, more advanced successor to the ill-fated Comet 1 with its structural problems. The Comet 4 was set to be the game changer for the British Aviation industry. Even though it was a contemporary of the Boeing 707, the Comet 4 showcased an innovative design for this time, bringing extended range and enhanced passenger capacity. All this helped it making it a pioneer of long-haul jet travel. The Comet 4 operated for well-known airlines, such as BOAC or Aerolineas Argentinas. Its legacy continued beyond commercial service, with the Nimrod, its military adaptation, serving until 2011.
The Classic Aircraft Simulations de Havilland Comet 4
Classic Aircraft Simulations (CAS) is once again committed to delivering an authentic and immersive simulation of a classic airliner. The Comet 4’s analog cockpit, with the lack of modern computerized systems, requires special hand-flying skills. As the age of the airliner grows, more extensive research and documentation are needed to recreate the aircraft’s unique systems in detail, including the flight dynamics, and capturing the vintage experience. The ultimate goal of CAS is to provide flight simulation enthusiasts with an unmatched experience of this historic jetliner. At the moment, no concrete release date is given.

Updates for the CAS J-3 Cub
Alongside the development of the Comet 4, Classic Aircraft Simulations announced the update strategy for their popular J-3 Cub: It will be updated for the newly released Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 as a free upgrade. The updated flight model performs well already in the new simulator, but the team still needs to address some minor compatibility issues. While this is all a work in progress, it is recommended to continue to watch out for further announcements.
