Following the delay of the product caused by software issues last month, Commercial Simulation Systems has finally released the Boeing 737-500 for MSFS 2020. The developer took to its Discord server to announce the news, which was not exempt from issues, given the high demand for the product.

A Turbulent Release & New Sales Model

After encountering unexpected issues, the developer had to delay the product, which resulted in mixed reactions from the community. Although those problems were resolved and the product was successfully released about a week later, the servers were quickly overloaded due to the high demand. The developer classified it as a “byproduct of an anticipated release, which happens to almost all devs.”

A “unique” sales model presented by CSS was also a subject of discussion (both positively and negatively), given that it features both a one-time purchase and a subscription option. $5 a month or $50 a year are the two subscription options available, compared to the $120 one-time fee to purchase the plane. It is important to note that the 737-300 and 737-400 are also planned to be released in the future at no extra cost.
