DC Designs Updates Concorde for MSFS2020, MSFS2024 Compatibility Outlined

DC Designs took to their Facebook page to announce an update for their rendition of the BAC Concorde for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020. The team has published major changes for their product and has also given us an outline for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 compatibility.

What’s New?

In an update posted just recently, DC Designs brought several new changes to their Concorde aircraft rendition. The team has rebuilt many aspects of the flight deck detailing and texture art for improved immersion and accuracy. Further changes include the addition of more system and instrument drums, gauges, and controls, the addition of the CIVA INS platform ready for use once coded, and new exterior normal maps with higher resolution detailing.

The FMC visibility can now be controlled so the user now has the option between the “modern-ish” FMS and CIVA INS navigation. The team has also revised the fuselage UV maps for greater resolution and accuracy. The liveries have been updated to match the newer layouts and further liveries including the Concorde prototype livery and other British Airways liveries have also been added.

MSFS2024 Compatibility

Regarding the latest platform release’s compatibility, DC Designs stated that, due to the rocky and problematic release of the new sim, MSFS2024 is not really “useable” in terms of development and there is a lot that needs fixing by the team over at Asobo Studios. In their opinion, numerous and rapid updates to the new sim are expected, similar to what we saw with MSFS2020, and those updates will focus on stability and basic fixes. The team will, as a result, withhold any fixes or updates that may break again due to new updates being pushed to the core simulator.

They will, for the moment, observe the changes to the sim over the next month or two before committing any major changes to all of their products. Their products for now are working okay according to DC Designs, with minor issues with textures and some systems. These are already on Asobo’s fix list and they hope that their aircraft will be fully functional in MSFS2024 very soon. This will then allow them to start taking advantage of the new platform’s functions as they start releasing updates in 2025.

Updates for both the Concorde and F-14 Tomcat which will allow them to appear in MSFS2024 have been pushed so simmers can use them in the latest environment. The Tomcats had to have their gear compression for catapult launches removed as the WASM gauge is currently inoperative.
