Digital Aeronautics Releases the Mi-2 for MSFS 2024

Digital Aeronautics launches the study-level Mi-2 for MSFS 2024, bringing the historic Soviet-Polish helicopter to life with high fidelity.

From Soviet design tables to Polish assembly lines, the Mi-2 carved out a lasting presence in rotary-wing aviation. This helicopter was a workhorse that became familiar in both training pads and also in frontline service. Now Digital Aeronautics is carrying that legacy into MSFS 2024 with this study-level recreation. This build arrives as a detailed recreation built to honor the character of this historic helicopter rather than sell spectacle.

Digital Aeronautics’ Mi-2 is built as a high-fidelity model. The attention paid to structural accuracy extends down to thousands of individually placed rivets and precisely aligned components. Inside the cockpit and cabin, from the surfaces to the reflections and markings, each element is modeled to reflect the helicopter’s operational environment. The team relied on extensive 4K photography gathered from airfields. This resulted in a digital airframe that closely mirrors its real-world counterpart.

Beyond the core systems, the Mi-2 introduces features such as signal flares and smoke effects. This adds a layer of operational flavor that enthusiasts may appreciate. The flight model incorporates custom logic and was evaluated by pilots familiar with the helicopter. This helped align the behavior with the specifications outlined in the manual.

Sound design received similar attention. Digital Aeronautics used recordings captured directly from a real Mi-2. Applying them across the model so that audio cues shift naturally with the user’s position. The result is a soundscape intended to match the helicopter’s authentic acoustic profile.
