The developer Fenix Simulations, who is responsible for the realistic Airbus A320 series depiction in Microsoft Flight Simulator has released a major, recently announced, update for their add-on, adding the long-awaited Sharklets to the aircraft series.
As mentioned in the previous development update and now in the official changelog on their Discord server, this update does not only bring the Sharklets variant of the A320 series to life in the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator. This update also includes a new, custom wingflex simulation, accompanying the Sharklets, as well as general improvements and changes to aircraft configurations.
This is especially visible on the Airbus A321, which is now shipped with additional centre tanks configurations. These can be found namely in the American Airlines and JetBlue fleets. You can either add one or two additional centre tanks and based on that, the 3D model will change as well.
The A320 series also went through a large systems upgrade, as the aeroplane series now includes new ADIRS, a “STOP RUDDER INPUT” trigger on the ND and new style ISIS displays.
The changes to the 3D model are not only visible on the additional centre tanks on the A321 and the Sharklets. The aircraft is now being shipped with the new LED lights configuration, which also comes with the special blinders, as these lights are marginally brighter and can influence night and low-visibility operations drastically.
Fenix Simulations also made improvements and adjustments to performance calculations, and cost index calculations across the whole series for both the raked wingtip variant and Sharklets, to accommodate the most realistic experience possible.
Lastly, the Fenix Installer received an update that includes a new feature for syncing your camera configurations across the whole Airbus A320 series.
This update is now available for free for all owners of the Fenix Simulations Airbus A320 series aircraft. Unfortunately, the Sharklets are not available on the A319 yet, as this configuration is rare in the real world and it still needs to be worked on.
If you still don’t own the Fenix Simulations A320 or the A319 and A321 Expansion Pack, you can purchase it via the Fenix Simulations website.
