FlightControlReplay Adds MSFS Fly-By Camera Support and More

The popular Prepar3D and MSFS replay tool FlightControlReplay announced major updates to their software today at FSExpo 2023 in Houston, Texas. FlightControlReplay V5 will now include full support for the Hype Performance Group H145 helicopter, replay edit tools such as cutting and trimming, and the headline feature: For the first time, a fly-by replay camera will be available with one click in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

“There are no more hassles in setting a virtual spotter view,” Fabio Merlo of FlightControlReplay said in a press release. With one click, the new fly-by camera feature will track your aircraft on the ground and in the air during replay playback from an external camera that “follows your position automatically.” It works with any aircraft, any scenery, anywhere, and will automatically both track your aircraft and jump the camera to new positions as the replay progresses. Microsoft Flight Simulator users in particular have been clamoring for a fly-by camera view since the sim’s release, a feature included in previous iterations of the simulator but not present in MSFS. You can watch the trailer for the new feature on AviationLads’ YouTube Channel later today.

Also announced by FlightControlReplay was full support for the HPG H145 V2 helicopter add-on. While partial support existed before, V5 will now support all of the custom variables and events in the H145, resulting in consistent and accurate replays. The HPG H145 joins FlightControlReplay’s extensive list of fully-supported add-ons, including PMDG 747, Fenix A320, Fly The Maddog MD80 series, Just Flight 146 Pro, Aerosoft CRJ, iniBuilds A310, FlyByWire Simulations A32NX, and Salty 747-400 Mod.

Finally, several additional features were announced. Alongside expanded support and the Fly-By camera, FlightControlReplay V5 will include support for cutting and trimming replay files, reduced file size of its custom .fcr replay format, and additional interface customization features. This update to FlightControlReplay V5 is set to release before the end of Summer 2023. For owners of the older FlightControlReplay V4.5, a special upgrade price of €8.25 (Plus applicable tax) is available. Otherwise, FCR V5 is available now from Simmarket for €20.00.
