The Animated First Officer is an expansion to FS2Crew’s Flybywire A32NX Project Edition and brings the next step into flight simulation immersion.
Well-known for virtual crew add-ons, FS2Crew has released a fully animated first officer for the FlyByWire A32NX. The new program brings an even deeper immersion to flight simulation, as now you can see your co-pilot reading checklists and handling levers and switches in your virtual cockpit instead of only hearing them. You can check out some of the new first officer’s features in the preview below.
How the Animated First Officer Works
After being activated, the Animated First Officer will begin its pre-flight procedures. Starting by looking around in search of any strange objects or anything that might be mishandled in the cockpit, the add-on will follow the procedures like real pilots would do. The new crew member also comes with exceptional synchronization between its lip movements and the incorporated audio, enhancing the co-pilot’s realism.
It is important to keep in mind that FS2Crew’s Animated First Officer is not a standalone product. Instead, the new add-on is an additional component within the existing FS2Crew suite. Consequently, in order to use the new add-on, customers must have bought and installed the FS2Crew for the FlyByWire A32NX add-on.
As of now, the Animated First Officer is only compatible with the FlyByWire A32NX. Although expectations are high, the developer has yet not confirmed the release of another Animated First Officer for other aircraft models such as the PMDG 737 and Fenix A320.
To explain this lack of certainty, FS2Crew stated that several changes within the aircraft programming are necessary in order to fully integrate it with the Animated First Officer; thus, PMDG and Fenix would have to authorize and be on the same page with these changes.
You can buy the FS2Crew: Animated First Officer โ FBW A32NX Project Edition at the developer’s own store for โฌ14.99. To stay tuned for the latest MSFS news, releases, and announcements, check out our coverage.
