FSimStudios Updates Vancouver for P3D

Vancouver city, which has been recreated in Prepar3D by FSimStudios has recently been updated to which a plethora of new improvements as well as promising performance updates.

The main improvement of the update is the update to the accuracy of the scenery package, FSimStudios stated that downtown Vancouver was made much more accurate by using advanced auto gen with OSM data, meaning every single building in downtown Vancouver is modelled, but textures and building models may not be true-to-life.

Additionally, the improvement of the downtown Vancouver area was achieved with no impact on performance. The rest of the city was also improved performance-wise with 30% better VAS usage. Among the smaller improvements were better night lighting throughout the city, the addition of a new “Apron 6” east of the Transborder terminal, and vehicle animation now being added.

The team concludes the post by stating that all existing bugs are currently being addressed, the new update should be available to existing customers sometime this week. If you do not already own the Vancouver scenery package, you can purchase it for $25 USD here.

Changelog

  • We managed to make Downtown Vancouver much more accurate with ZERO IMPACT on performance. We created custom autogen, based on OSM Data, for downtown Vancouver. This means that every single building existing in real life is now modeled and represented in the scenery. Keep in mind it’s autogenerated, so these are not 100% accurately modeled or textured, but as you can see on the screenshots, it creates an immersive environment.
  • We improved performance significantly – especially VAS performance. We successfully decreased VAS usage by 1.5GB (aprox. 30% improvement) with ZERO visible quality loss. FPS are slightly better as well.
  • Night lighting was also improved significantly – Terminal interior is now accurately illuminated, dynamic lighting is brighter.
  • We are currently working on adding the new Apron 6, east of the Transborder Terminal.
  • Vehicle animations are now being added
  • All other bugs reported to date are now being addressed.
