FSNews Exclusive: New Previews of Canberra by Impulse Simulations

We are bringing you exclusive and unseen previews of the upcoming Canberra for MSFS scenery and an insight into the development process.

Earlier this year, the team at Impulse Simulations announced the development of Canberra Airport (YSCB) for Microsoft Flight Simulator. In collaboration with the developer, we are bringing you exclusive and unseen previews of the scenery and an insight into the development process.

The scenery has now moved from alpha and beta testing and has entered the release candidate stage. Throughout testing, the developers have corrected several issues, such as ILS and runway configuration or terrain issues.

Although the team hasn’t got access to plans of the airport buildings, they are doing their best to provide the user with 1:1 recreation of the airport. In order to achieve this, they use open-source tools like Google Earth or Bing.

Canberra Airport will feature a 100% functional GSX profile as well as a VGDS profile that matches the real one. Furthermore, it will feature over 300 individual models and is the team’s second airport to have been completely overhauled in terms of individual building textures. In addition, the developers have been able to design a realistic look for each model and bring a few more details. Thanks to this, the user won’t just look at brand new buildings but will be able to enjoy a very immersive experience.

After trying to design Darwin Airport for over a year, Impulse Simulations chose to work on Canberra as it was very poorly and wrongly portrayed in the simulator. They said they try as hard as possible to bring the user sceneries that are correct, to scale, and as up-to-date as possible.

The team is making great progress with this product, and they are aiming to release it within December 2022, if everything goes according to plan. They don’t want to rush it; it has to meet their development standards to be released. We haven’t received any information about the price range of the scenery. The developer hopes that simmers will enjoy Canberra as much as they enjoyed creating it.
