Created by AC Scenery, the new Heydar Aliyev International Airport (UBBB) add-on brings the gateway of Azerbaijan and the heart of the South Caucasus to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024. This latest release opens up new opportunities for exploring one of the most vibrant and modern airports in the Caspian region.

Visit Azerbaijan!

Heydar Aliyev International Airport is located 20 kilometres northeast of downtown Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and is accessible via the Baku Airport Highway. The airport features two runways (4000m and 3200m) and handled over 7.5 million passengers in 2024. Formerly known as Bina International, it’s one of the busiest airports in both Azerbaijan and the post-Soviet space, with significant routes to Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

The main terminal, designed by the UK-based engineering firm Arup, was opened in 2014 and features bold, angular forms and sweeping rooflines, with extensive glass façades creating a modern silhouette recognisable from the air and ground. This architectural approach reflects Azerbaijan’s reputation for innovative and expressive contemporary design, visible throughout Baku’s skyline.

The airport is the primary base for AZAL (Azerbaijan’s national carrier), as well as Silk Way West Airlines. One of the region’s leading cargo carriers, Silk Way West, connects Baku to destinations across three continents. Its cargo terminal claims it can serve nine B747s, the An-124, fifteen II-76 or two B777 aircraft at once.

Along the Silk Road and Beyond

AC Scenery is a small, independent developer specialising in airports and cityscapes for both Microsoft Flight Simulator and Prepar3D. Alongside many P3D city and airport sceneries, their MSFS catalogue features original releases for the Caucasus and Central Asia, including Turkistan Airport (UAIT), Pardubice (LKPD), and Kastamonu (LTAL). Their focus on this lesser-covered region brings unique destinations to the flight-simmer.

This add-on brings to life photorealistic scenery of the terminals, control tower, ARFF, taxiways, aprons, and ground service equipment. The design is FPS-friendly and optimised with dynamic lighting, ensuring smooth performance in both daylight and night operations. Realistic textures and accurate layouts offer an authentic airport environment for MSFS 2020 and 2024 users.
