iniBuilds made an announcement on their Discord server that they will end development on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and begin development exclusively for Flight Simulator 2024. While a more detailed explanation was stated to come on Friday, 27 September, the current details are sparse due to NDA’s in place.
What we currently know
Ubaid, a member of the iniBuilds team, stated the reason for the decision was to streamline development, as it was not sustainable to run two separate internal development streams. However, before the full shift, the team will release the A300 as a free upgrade along with all sceneries until the release of MSFS 2024.
After the release, however, everything from that point forth will be only MSFS 2024. Despite many wishing for a release on MSFS 2020, the A350 and the A380 will only be for MSFS 2024 at the moment.
As for scenery add-ons, the decision was made to update all free of charge. It was also stated that some of the sceneries would be rebuilt from scratch as new add-ons. These would come at a discounted price for any current owners.
How did the iniBuilds community react?
How did the community react to this announcement? Truthfully it is a mixture of anger, happiness, and indecision. Many responses contained words of positivity and support. Many simply posted memes in an attempt to diffuse the frustrated replies. However, others were disappointed and angry over the decision.
Despite the blowback and mass amounts of messages in the Discord server, the iniBuilds team maintained a level head, responded to questions, and provided as much clarity to the situation as they could.
