JetSet Designs took to the X-Plane forums to announce the release of their rendition of Quad Cities International Airport for X-Plane 12. The product is their third such offering for the X-Plane flight simulator platform.
About Quad Cities International
Quad Cities International Airport (KMLI) is a public airport in Rock County, Illinois, located south of Moline, partly in Blackhawk Township and partly in Coal Valley Township. It serves the Quad Cities Metropolitan area which includes the Davenport and Bettendorf cities in Scott County, Iowa, as well as Moline in Rock Island County, Illinois. The airport does not have any international flights despite having an international designation. This is because it is an official port of entry and has a Foreign Trade Zone as well as a U.S. Customs office, allowing international cargo and international general aviation passenger flights.
Key features
JetSet Designs’ KMLI features custom-modeled airport buildings, custom ground textures custom ortho tiles with mesh, and custom vegetation throughout the area. The rendition also features custom taxiway signs, taxi lights, and PBR texturing, and also includes OpenSAM compatibility. The surrounding area of the airport has also been custom-modeled by the developers.
The rendition is dependent on quite a few libraries including MisterX, HandyObjects, the ZDP library, Flags of the USA, and the SAM library. It is essential to also have these libraries installed to take full advantage of the scenery and maximum immersion. Furthermore, the Ortho4XP Patch and overlays are available on the developers’ discord if needed.
Closing Notes
JetSetDesigns’ latest rendition, Quad Cities International Airport, is available to download from the X-Plane.org forums. The scenery is freeware and is available to download for absolutely no cost. The developers have also released a picturesque release trailer that can be viewed below.
