Jetstream Designs has released its latest scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator, this time enhancing the second-largest international hub in Switzerland. This highly anticipated rendition of Geneva Airport is now available for everyone to purchase.

About Geneva Airport

Geneva Airport (LSGG) is the second largest international airport in Switzerland, coming right after Zurich. The airport was opened in 1919 and serves as a hub for Swiss and easyJet Switzerland. Whilst the airport is located very close to French borders, its area is completely within the Swiss territory.

The airport features a single concrete runway, which was first constructed in 1937, at the time measuring only 405 metres but was gradually expanded during the airport’s operation.

An interesting aspect of this airport is that during the last runway extension, a part of the territory needed to be exchanged with neighbouring France. In an agreement, Switzerland received the land from France and the country transferred the same amount of nearby area back to France. This way, the country remained the same size and preserved its neutrality.

The airport itself has a large amount of movement for an airport with a single runway. Annually, Geneva Airport transfers almost 15 million passengers, 70 000 tonnes of cargo and has over 163 thousand aircraft movements.

Geneva Airport has a large number of destinations across the world and Europe. You can get to Dublin with Aer Lingus, New York with Delta, Baku with Azerbaijan Airlines, and Cairo with Egyptair. Many European cities have connections to this hub with easyJet Switzerland, offering routes to Paris, Mallorca, Bilbao, Bristol, Belgrade and much more.
