Just Flight Announces RJ Freighter Update

Just Flight recently took to its social media pages to announce one of the major features coming to the next RJ Professional update, the RJ QT Freighter. Alongside this fictional variant of the RJ, the update will also include many fixes to make the aircraft fully MSFS 2024-native.

A More-or-Less Fictional Variant

The Avro RJ series is a modernized version of the earlier BAe 146 series of regional jets, which, alongside standard passenger configurations, also had the ‘QT’ (Quiet Trader) and ‘QC’ (Quick Change) freighter variants available from the factory. The Avro RJ stuck with just the passenger configuration throughout its production run; no freighter versions of the RJ were developed by either BAe itself or a third party.

In 2016, BAe did consider offering OEM modifications for the RJs that would convert them into freighters. There’s even a PDF brochure available here for those interested in reading more about the proposed modification, which, in the end, would never come to production.

Next RJ Professional Update

Just Flight mentions that, after the disappointment of some of its customers about the lack of a freighter variant for the RJ Professional, the developer has decided to take the BAe proposal and turn it into a (virtual) reality. The next update for the RJ will feature the RJ QT variant with liveries for FedEx, DHL, TNT, and a special prototype livery.

Along with the RJ QT, the next update for this aircraft will include many more MSFS 2024-specific fixes, as the developer works to make the RJ 2024-native in preparation for its marketplace release. There will also be many new features for both the 2020 and 2024 versions of the aircraft, to be revealed closer to or on the release of the free update.
