JustOxy Releases Kardla Airport for MSFS

JustOxy has released Kardla Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This airport is their second release for Microsoft Flight Simulator and their second Estonian airport. The developer has brought this small airport in Estonia to MSFS on Flightsim.to for free.

About Kardla Airport

Kardla Airport is a small regional airport in Estonia. Located on Hiiumaa Island, it serves as the main gateway to the island. It is situated 13 km east of the town of Kardla on Hiiumaa Island. The airport has one asphalt runway that is nearly, 5000ft in length and was upgraded in 1998. In 1963, Kardla Airport opened to commercial flights.

In the following years of its opening, there were regular flights to Tallinn, Vormsi, Riga and several other places. It also served charter flights to Kaunas and Vilnius. 24,000 passengers used Kardla Airport in 1987. However, following Estonia’s independence in 1991 and 1995, air traffic decreased significantly with only 727 passengers. Since then, air traffic has increased again, with Kardla seeing 10,551 passengers in 2010.

JustOxy’s Kardla Airport

JustOxy has recreated Kardla Airport in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 with detailed building models. The terminal and other buildings around the airport, including Roograhu Port, have all been modelled. The terminal interior is also almost fully modelled in the simulator. Around the airport, some landmarks have also been modelled as true to life as possible.

The approach lights have been made custom with the PALS-1 system for runway 32. To help with immersion and realism, a custom GSX profile has been included. This profile also gives support for animated terminal doors during boarding and deboarding.
