Majestic Software Q400 Development Update

Majestic Software has recently taken to their support forums to share a new development update adressing the currently developed TRAINING edition of the De Havilland Canada DHC8-400 known as the “Dash 8”.

Just to introduce you to the subject, Majestic Software already has Q400 in their portfolio for Prepar3D, however, only in PILOT and PRO variants. The “PILOT” version is intended to be used by home flight simmers, while the PRO version is intended for advanced users or airline pilots wishing to improve their knowledge of the aircraft. The TRAINING version promises even higher realism that PRO and PILOT variants offer.

Today’s post provided a brief update on the status of the aircraft development. To be more specific, the TRAINING version of the aircraft. In the original plans, Majestic Software was expecting to be now preparing for the release, but unfortunately, that’s not happening. The development of the aircraft was temporarily halted due to the required adaptations to the PILOT and PRO versions prior to the Prepar3D v5 release and is now progressing again.

Implementing a good quality Flight video recording feature requires numerous changes to the communication platform of the Q400, which affects all of the systems, and for this reason, it can not be postponed until after the release.

After the release of the TRAINING and COCKPIT editions, all versions of the Q400 add-on should receive an update featuring visual enhancements and bug fixes. If you want to submit a suggestion for the update, you can do so through their forums.

Majestic Software has as well made a post back in August about their plans to develop for the new Microsoft Flight Simulator. Based on that, the developers were not participating in the Alpha or Beta phase of the simulator and therefore cannot estimate when will the aircraft be coming to the new simulator, however, look forward to implementing it when the time comes. As of right now, the SDK is not in the state with which Majestic Software could work properly.
