Microsoft has released their 8th sim update for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The simulator recently also had a world update that improved the nation of Australia with landmarks and more immersion within the environment.
Starting off with a new interface, the marketplace within the simulator has seen an improvement in the main menu. This includes a map showing available airports and improved discoverability along with a better navigation experience.
For the simmers who like playing the Reno air races game mode, a new private match mode has been added and is available via the content manager. This mode allows for customization of aircraft performance as well as the number of laps, in-race and assists and the time of day.
A new simulation system has been added being optional in the simulator. This comes with hundreds of moving surfaces covering the realistic simulation of propellers on the Cessna 152, Cessna 208 B and Grand Caravan EX. This improves propeller effects such as p-factor, feathering, prop drag and more.
Also included within the update is a new spotlight landing challenge available for the player, featuring the Cessna Citation CJ4 at Reno Stead Airport. On the world map, VOR-DME and DME are differentiated. Stability has also been improved lowering GPU consumption when installing packages while the sim is booted and when the main window is minimized. Framerate drops are fixed on DirectX 11 when the user has multiple windows open externally.
Many more fixes for bugs and glitches have been fixed within the simulator, for both aircraft and systems. For example, the Boeing 747-8 and Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
