Microsoft Releases World Update 17: Focusing on The British Isles

World Update 17 has been released and this time the Microsoft Flight Simulator team decided to further enhance the British Isles in the simulator world. The United Kingdom and Ireland have been already covered in the World Update 3, but it was not as detailed as this version is.

Both countries are well-known for their rich historical heritage, with iconic natural and humankind landmarks. The update includes 16 detailed cities, 79 points of interest and 5 handcrafted airports. This World Update has been recreated in cooperation with Bing Maps, iniBuilds and Gaya Simulations. World Update 17 also includes LiDAR coverage of elevation and the most recent aerial imagery for both countries.

Speaking of cities, the developer recreated 16 different major cities, starting with Bristol, Brighton, London, Heathrow, Leeds-Bradford, Liverpool, Newcastle, Welling and Wembley in England. Ireland received updates to almost all of its major places, including the capital, Dublin, Cork and the famous Cliffs of Moher and Liscannor.

In total, there are 79 points of interest, out of which 31 are located in England, 13 in Ireland, 5 on the Isle of Man, 11 in Northern Ireland, 10 in Wales, 9 in Scotland and 1 in Orkney.

With the Farnborough Airshow currently taking place, the developer also decided to recreate this airport in detail in the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator. Furthermore, there are improvements to London Stansted, Cork, Samsburgh and Cardiff.
