The team of Miltech Simulations has released its first development blog, providing an in-depth look at the upcoming MH-60 helicopter for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 (MSFS2020) and MSFS2024. The developers aim to give the community a behind-the-scenes view of their progress. This blog is set to be the first of many to come, offering insights into the development process, features, and upcoming plans.
MH-60 Variants and Sceneries
The MH-60 package will include many state-of-the-art systems for the Flight Simulator, such as functioning weapon systems (like already seen in their M2K-C for MSFS), including Hellfire missiles, torpedoes, and countermeasures. Additionally, Simbrief integration is planned.
This addon will contain three main variants of the MH-60:
- MH-60 Sierra: Used for firefighting, troop transport, and more. It is mainly operated by the US Navy and the Royal Thai Navy.
- MH-60 Romeo: Designed for anti-submarine warfare (ASW), search and rescue (SAR), and transport operations. This version is used by multiple countries worldwide.
- MH-60 Tango: Operated by the US Coast Guard. This model will share the cockpit and avionics of the Sierra and Romeo models.
Additionally, this addon for MSFS will include four mini-sceneries to enhance mission realism and provide authentic landing sites:
- Coast Guard Air Station (CGAS) San Diego
- CGAS Kodiak
- Garden Island, Australia
- Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera, Spain

Collaboration with Blackbird Simulations
Miltech Simulations is now partnering with Blackbird Simulations, which previously announced its own MH-60 project. This collaboration aims to combine Blackbird’s high-quality 3D model and avionics with Miltech’s expertise in advanced features like sling cargo loads, weapon systems, and autopilot logic.
Mission System
The MH-60 will include a new mission system compatible with both PC and Xbox. Players can expect over 30 missions, both fictional and based on real-life scenarios. Mission types will include:
- Search and Rescue (SAR) with audio calls and a functional winch
- Anti-submarine warfare (ASW)
- Firefighting with a Bambi bucket
- Vertical replenishment (VERTREP) and transport missions
- “Airshow missions” with external display flags

Development Progress and Release Timeline
The MH-60 project for PC and Xbox as well is in the final phase of development, where all elements are being combined, compiled, and tested. While the MH-60 Sierra is nearly complete, work continues on the Romeo and Tango variants. The team aims to begin beta testing by the end of March 2025, with a potential release window in late April. The expected price is in the $30 USD range.
