A new Sim Update has entered its beta stage in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. As with any previous sim updates, this one focuses on performance improvements, additional quality-of-life features, and bug fixes in the simulator. With Sim Update 6, virtual pilots will get a major optimisation feature that may help with visuals, as well as performance.
The major thing mentioned is the implementation of DLSS 4.5 and FSR 4 in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This also adds dynamic frame generation to the game and in-game VSync support. The visual optimisation does not end there, as the team actively tries to improve the LOD popping in the cockpit and to improve ray-traced shadows at larger distances.

Speaking of general improvements to the game, pilots may now be able to start a flight without spawning in the walk-around mode, which is a game-changer for people who mostly fly IFR flights on a simulator network, for example.
Those who use generic airports will be thrilled to hear that night lighting has been fixed on many, improving visual fidelity. However, there are more improvements planned in the future. There are also many bug fixes done to the simulator, and the taxi ribbon won’t clip through grass anymore in MSFS 2024 Sim Update 6. Many of those bug fixes are related to the simulator’s Career Mode.
