Orbx Announces Banja Luka Airport for MSFS

The team at Orbx has been quite busy the past weeks, given the fact that they are now close to the release of Gold Coast Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator. They made a few more new announcements. One of the new announcements is about the first official rendition of Banja Luka Airport in Bosnia for the Asobo’s platform.

About Banja Luka Airport

Banja Luka Airport (LQBK) is located in the vicinity of the second-largest city in Bosnia, Banja Luka. Currently, the airport cooperates with two major European carriers, Ryanair and AirSerbia. In the summer season, there are also flights to Turkey and Greece from this airport.

The construction of the airport began in 1976, and during that time it was only restricted to domestic flights in the territory of then Yugoslavia. For international civilian air traffic, the airport opened in 1997, and during the first decade of the third millennium, the airport received a significant overhaul before Pope John Paul II came to visit the city.

In 2010, Bosnian citizens were no longer required to have a visa for travelling to the European Union, and a special charter flight was operated from this airport for this occasion to Brussels International Airport. Over the years, there were connections to Athens, Belgrade, Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Ljubljana, Salzburg, Tivat and Vienna.

What Will Orbx Offer In The Scenery?

The Orbx development team promises to deliver a detailed rendition of the airport, created by Radoslav Tucakov, an indie developer, working closely with the large name in the flight simulator community. The feature list is not yet fully complete. Nevertheless, Radoslav Tucakov ensures that the airport will have custom terminals and buildings with interior details and modelling. All of the models will be covered in high-quality PBR textures.

Speaking of the surrounding area, the developer aims to recreate hangars, security checkpoints, and fences around the airport. Furthermore, there will be a custom village and even the military air base near the airport, making the virtual pilot’s experience of this airport even more advanced, despite the airport being one of the smaller in the Balkans.
