Orbx announced has embarked on v2 of Hollywood Burbank Airport for MSFS. Orbx previously created the original version of Hollywood Burbank for MSFS and P3D.
This ultra-HD rendition will be created by Matteo Veneziani and it will be a complete rework of the original release that was released in late 2020. Matteo will be using a new high-quality custom ground poly along with realistic elevation profiles of the surrounding terrain.
Other features include a new apron expansion, reworked modelling with PBR textures, and unique ground service equipment specific to Burbank. The runways will be sloped and feature realistic elevation.
Matteo has also announced new library objects will be featured such as static aircraft and will include a Custom Panel option that will remove library objects and static aircraft from the scenery for whom it may not feel necessary.
Matteo Veneziani is known for creating Skiathos Airport and San Diego International for Microsoft Flight Simulator.
Hollywood Burbank Airport, also known as Bob Hope International, is located 12 miles north of the City of Los Angeles at the southeastern edge of the San Fernando Valley. Airlines that service Burbank Hollywood are Alaska, American, Delta, Flair, JetBlue, and Southwest, Burbank is also a popular corporate jet airport. In 2021 close to 4 million passengers went through the gates at Hollywood Burbank.
Orbx announced that Hollywood Burbank Airport v2 would have special pricing for those who own v1 for MSFS. Previous customers were planned to be eligible for a 50% discount.
That has, however, changed quickly as soon as the community responded with the disapproval of having to pay for an upgrade for scenery that has been released not that long ago.
In response to that, Orbx made the decision to make the v2 a free upgrade, however, the price will increase for new customers as Matteo has spent significant time working on this new version of the scenery.
The release date is unknown, however, the team stated that they expect the scenery to launch “soon”.
