Orbx Releases Grumman Avenger for MSFS

Orbx, a renowned scenery and aircraft package developer for various flight simulators, has released one of the most iconic single-engine aircraft of WWII: First introduced in 1942 and with almost 9,900 units built, the Grumman Avenger is now available for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024.

About The Grumman TBF Avenger

The three crew members that would operate the World War II-era torpedo bomber include a pilot, turret gunner, and radioman. Originally built for the United States Navy and the United States Marine Corps, it was later operated by other nations such as the United Kingdom, France, and Canada, before being retired in the 1960s.

High-Fidelity Representation

With the expertise of aerobatic pilot Paul Bennet, who owns one of the last remaining airworthy Avengers, Orbx ensures this release is as close as it can get to reality. Every rivet, curve, and control has been modeled considering the pilot’s valuable feedback to ensure the plane is represented accurately.

Realistic Flight Dynamics

After rigorous testing and Paul Bennet’s expert input, Orbx guarantees its users will “feel the Avenger’s true power and precision” in Asobo’s flight simulator. By executing snap rolls and knife-edge maneuvers, experiencing realistic stall characteristics, and feeling matched roll rates like in the real plane, the users will get to a flight model realistically built for aerobatic scenarios.

Sound Immersion

Furthermore, the developer invites flight simmers to immerse themselves in history with genuine audio recordings captured directly from Bennet’s Avenger, ensuring a high-fidelity involvement in the cockpit. The plane features engine notes that shift with RPM and airspeed, in addition to wind and ground roll effects taken directly from the real plane, which adds another layer of realism to the flying experience.

Closing Notes

Along with the product launch, Orbx has published a release video that can be watched here. The product is retailed at the developer’s website for $28.00 AUD (US$17.68 | €16,83 | £14.16). The download size of this product is 0.95 GB and uses 2.23 GB when installed. If you would like to read more flight simulation news, check out our main page.
