Orbx took to their Facebook page to announce the release of their new Paul Bennet Bundle Pack for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The bundle pack features an aircraft and an airport scenery rendition for the platform: the Wolf Pitts Pro and Maitland Airport (YMND).
About the Wolf Pitts Pro
The Wolf Pitts Pro airplane, originally built by Steve Wolf of Wolf Aircraft for Wyche T. Coman III, is an aerobatic sports aircraft powered by a 400hp Lycoming engine. The aircraft weighs around 1200 pounds and is equipped with a unique set of wings that give it a roll rate of 350 degrees per second. The tail of the aircraft is modeled after the tails used on high-performance radio-controlled aircraft. The Wolf Pitts Pro is also flown by Paul Bennet as part of his renowned Paul Bennet Airshow.
Key features of the airplane
Orbx’s Wolf Pitts Pro for MSFS has been recreated to a high degree of detail through reference images collected in collaboration with Paul Bennet. The exterior is highly detailed and custom-modeled with lots of details including flight sequence notes in the cockpit. An authentic Paul Bennet Airshow livery has also been included in the product.
The flight model was created with special emphasis placed on achieving the precise flight characteristics of the plane. It has also been extensively tested thanks to Paul Bennet’s expertise. Snap rolls and knife-edge maneuvers are possible. Stall characteristics and roll rate are also highly accurate and are reflective of the real-world airplane.
The sounds of the aircraft have also seen the same level of attention to detail as the other aspects. The Wolf features first-hand audio recordings from Paul Bennet’s real-world personal Wolf Pitts Pro. The sound pack also comes with dynamic engine, wind (dependent on airspeed), and ground roll sounds. The engine sounds differ based on RPM, speed, and the varying angles around the aircraft.
About Maitland Airport
Maitland Airport or Russell Field is a general aviation airport located in the suburb of Rutherfield, which is approximately five kilometers from Maitland, New South Wales, Australia. It currently has no airline services and caters to mostly general aviation and recreational category aircraft. The airport is the home of Australian aerobatic champion Paul Bennet and his formation flying team, the SkyAces.
Key features of Maitland Airport
Orbx’s Maitland Airport features full 3D custom-modeled airport buildings which are highly detailed and accurate of the real-world location. Paul Bennet’s hangar has also been meticulously modeled and textured to reflect the real-world element and its details. The airport also features highly detailed ground markings, including taxiways, roads, and car parks, custom animated hangars, improved ground terraforming, custom approach, runway and apron lighting, and optimizations for increased performance in-sim.
